Welcome, 2015!

Happy New Year, as I’m sure you’ve heard a thousand times already today. But I’m hoping that this year goes the same way the last few hours of 2014 and the first few hours of 2015 went, because it was fantastic!

I had the Twilight 5k Run in Altoona yesterday evening, and it went fantastic. I haven’t gotten official results yet, but I did amazing (even if the course wasn’t certified as an official 5k, so I can’t count it in good conscience) with a time clocking in just over 28 minutes. It was such a nice course, even though it was freezing cold outside, and the lights were really pretty; however, it did get exhausting after the third time going around in circles. The awesome thing was I got water, a white macadamia nut cookie, and a grape and cheese cup from Sheetz as the post-race goodies. It was a wonderful snack for the hour-long drive home.

I went home, showered, watched a bit of Criminal Minds, and then got changed to go to a New Year’s Eve party. I made M&M Cookie Bars, and oh my goodness, they are so good. I got to the party early to help set up, and we put some dangling sparkle stars from the ceiling. Lauren made these really awesome ping pong ball lights, and they were absolutely gorgeous and it took us a lot of effort to hang them up around the living room. It was hilarious, trying to stand on a chair and put them up on the command hooks. Some of Lauren’s friends came down from her high school, and we were all just sitting around and snacking and chatting.

Some more people showed up a little later, and we all were having a blast. Some of the bros were tooting along on party blowers to the songs that were coming on the speakers, and it sounded like hell. We almost forgot to turn on the TV to watch the ball drop, which would have been a bummer. Everyone was screaming and jumping around and hugging when the clock changed, and we were laughing because Verizon time made it the New Year before the TV. Everyone kind of started to putter out after midnight, but a couple of us stayed up later for a while to watch Bob’s Burgers on Netflix. It was probably the best New Year’s Eve I’ve ever had, and it was just so nice to be surrounded by all of my friends to kiss 2014 goodbye.

Today was nothing special. Abby and I left so she could get to work, and I came home and laid on the couch. There’s a Criminal Minds marathon that’s been on all day, and it’s all of season 8. The problem is that they don’t end this season until about 3 in the morning, and I don’t want to screw up my sleep schedule. But dang, it’s so addicting and it’s almost impossible to drag yourself away after the first two minutes.

Anyway, I hope 2015 is your best year so far, because everyone deserves a year like no other!
