Today was my first official day of summer vacation, which meant I started my first day of work and my first summer class. I know, how exciting. But the last few days were a lot of fun, and I’m so glad that this school year is pretty much over – I was stressing over a lot of things that didn’t really need to be on the top of my radar.
Cogswell Formal was Friday night, and it was a blast. Even though we shortened it because so many people had already gone home for the semester, the people there made it really fun. I was completely exhausted by the end of it, and I was so glad to just lay down and put my feet up.
Commencement was on Saturday, and it was such a snore. I’m sure it would have been better to play at the morning ceremony, since that’s when the College of Fine Arts graduated – but Symphony Band gets the afternoon one, where I didn’t really know anyone. It’s kind of weird to think that next year will be my last year just playing in the band. I also realized that I’m officially over halfway done with my undergrad, especially since I front-loaded my classes so much. That’s kind of scary, but it’s also totally exciting.
Sunday was the first real day of summer, so Abby, Garrison, Dave, and I all went to a Pirate game. My dad won tickets a few weeks ago at my brother’s charity game, but nobody else in our house wanted them. I managed to drive into Pittsburgh with everyone in the car, and I actually think I did pretty well. We got Chipotle for lunch, headed over to PNC, watched the Bucs actually beat the Cards (!!!), get burnt by the sun from our seats, bungle the subway ride back over, and wait in the parking garage forever until we could get out. The drive home was pretty easy, and we stopped at my favorite ice cream place for a nice snack before getting back into Indiana. I had so much fun, and I’m so glad that everyone else seemed to as well.
Today being the first day of work went pretty smoothly, other than the fact I almost forgot how to transfer the phone calls. I also had to walk a lot, which kind of sucked for my VERY sunburnt knees. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as good, and I can figure out the crazy logistics of my current online class…
